Vaughn pulled his car up to their notorious self-storage cage. His mind flashed back to the comfortable Chinese restaurant that Jack and his handler met at. He sighed petulantly. One could hardly sit down here without getting splinters up their ass.

Or do you think it's the meetings that she has with you? Jack Bristow's contemptuous, condescending voice ran in his mind. He quickly shook it out. No, he would not let Jack Bristow intimidate him when the man wasn't even there. He had a rock solid reason for wanting to meet Syd. Maybe. Okay, not really, but he could bullshit it. Hopefully.

He fixed the shirt cuffs on his blue oxford as he waited for her to arrive, mentally making something up as he waited for her to arrive. And then she did. Dressed up, looking absolutely stunning and gorgeous. The words flew out of his mouth. He visibly gulped.

"Hi." He managed as he pulled the door open for her. It was his small gesture of unnecessary chivalry that he performed automatically, since his actual wits had flown away the moment she stepped into his view. "Erm...wow."

Wow. That was intelligent. He scratched his neck and looked away before remembering to move aside to allow her in.

Walking in, hair nicely done up and a dress to go with it, she could see that her appearence caught Vaughn by surprise.

Hi. Erm...wow.

"Thank you." she said in response to him holding the door for her, already beginning to feel the tension between them.

Letting out a small laugh followed by a smile, she looked at him.

"I'm invited to dinner at Sloane's house." Pausing for a second, she collected her thoughts before her next words.

"Bastard." She smiled at him, but she was totally serious.

"Yeah." Vaughn commented, absent mindedly, trying to convince his eyes to stop sweeping her body. "Jack told us about the Rambaldi book thing." He continued, wrenching his eyes back to her face.

Focusing his mind on the CIA, he continued. "This is the circuitry overrider you'll use that's supposedly 'bitchin' according to our tech guys who made the paperclip bug." Vaughn chuckled nervously. "Uh- right. yeah"

"We want you to replace the blank page with this counterfeit." Vaughn dug out a similar blank page from his briefcase. He sensed her commiting what he said to memory.

"So. Emily told you to bring a friend. Are you bringing Francie?" Vaughn ventured, for small talk.
sydney a. bristowundercover_syd on March 27th, 2007 12:24 am (UTC)
Nodding, she was already remembering everything he was saying to her, it unconsciously being committed to her brain.

"Gotcha." she said with a smile.

So. Emily told you t bring a friend. Are you bringing Francie?

Immediately when he said those words, she was reluctant to respond with the true answer.

Stumbling on her words, in her head of course, she finally replied.

"No, I'm taking Will."

She met his eyes, and she knew that it had hurt.

Shit. Why hadn't I asked him? God damnit. I'm so stupid!!

vaughnincognito on March 27th, 2007 12:38 am (UTC)
He scrutinized her as she searched for words, his eyebrows knitting.

Will. The word dropped like a bomb. That turned from being a friendly thing to a date. There could be no other possible reason she was dressed so beautifully tonight. It wasn't as if she was trying to impress Sloane and her father. Jealousy automatically reared its ugly head.

"Will." He repeated, with an obviously forced smile, lips pressed together too tightly. "How..." Stupid, wrong, annoying, ridiculous all ran throught his head. "Nice." He looked away from her and leaned against the fence, willing to let the uncomfortable silence fester.

"Good. Well then." He looked around frantically, searching for something about the mission to say. He came up empty handed. "How are you, by the way? I heard that you got in a fight with one of the goons and took a punch kinda hard." Vaughn blabbered. Oh dear god, he was beginning to resemble Marshall, just without the stuttering and the genius streak.

He unconsciously moved toward her and traced her face with his eyes. God, she was so beautiful. He squinted at a small part of her jaw, it looked okay, but a bit puffy. Not unless you were as close as he was, of course. Oh crap. He was too close, he had managed to close the distance he had originally put between them.

He reached out to her face, jealousy had spurred him to be a bit more daring than usual. Somewhere, he told himself that Syd deserved better than him, someone she could actually be with now, not "someday." He chose to ignore that voice. Instead, he brushed a soft thumb, ever so gently against the injured area, inching softly toward the edge of her mouth.

"Make sure you remember to put some ice on that..." he trailed off, his voice deep.

Hearing the hurt within his voice, she found it very hard to look him straight in the eye.

For a split second it seemed, he had moved closer to her, something she wished that he would continue to do. But no. Of course not. Not in their story.

His thumb softly ran over the corner of her mouth, assuming that he had discovered her fat lip she had tried so hard to hide.

Make sure you remember to put some ice on that...

His voice trailed off, but she was still able to hear the hint of protectiveness in it.

"I will, don't worry." She said this with a small smile, knowing that he would worry anyway.
vaughnincognito on March 27th, 2007 01:42 am (UTC)
"Yeah." Vaughn said, noncomitally, silently swearing to kick Will's sorry ass if he happened to try to kiss the injured lips tonight. Dear god, and he hadn't even met the man. He wasn't quite sure if he was more concerned with the fact that it would hurt Sydney or if it was the Will kissing Sydney part that got to him more. Unconciously, his thumb had moved to her lip and was tracing its line softly, sensually. Suddenly, he noticed, and he removed his hand and shoved them in his pockets while he looked away.

"Well, I hope you and-" Vaughn bit the inside of his cheek. Damnit, why couldn't he say it? "you guys have fun tonight. Well, as much fun as you can have in the house of Arvin Sloane" He forced a smile, though he was sure the wrinkles in his forehead probably gave him away.

He began to reach for the door to let her out so he could lick his wounds privately with whiskey, but something, he couldn't place his finger on what.

"You, you look really beautiful tonight." He offered a smile, wondering if it would convince her to stay, for just another minute. No, no. She was Will's for the night. DAMNIT.

Noticing that his voice kept growing more tense by the second, she moved closer to him.

"It's just a dinner Vaughn." she said to him, hoping that it would convince him of any other thoughts he had.

You, you look really beautiful tonight.

A beaming smile was shown almost immediately and for a moment, it was just them in the world. Just the two of them. Nothing else mattered.

Seeing his smile, Sydney looked down, her cheeks probably as pink as they had ever been.

"Thanks." was all she said, unable to really think of anything else to say.

Hearing the hint of what she thought was jealousy as he spoke, it almost made her smile and laugh. Vaughn was really cute when he was jealous, she noticed.
vaughnincognito on March 27th, 2007 04:08 pm (UTC)
"Anything with Arvin Sloane is dangerous." Vaughn bit out, choosing to ignore her actual implication. Things were easier when they were talking about international terrorists that were notorious for deception and cruelty. Funny, wasn't it?

Her brilliant smile brought him out of his funk as he offered her a small smile in return. He fought down a smirk as Sydney blushed. So he still had a fighting chance, Will Tippin was going down. His spirits slightly bolstered, he opened up the cage, the door scraping racously.

"Be careful," he warned. God, he really needed something new to say. Then, something posessed him to hold onto her arm until she whirled around. Shit. Now what? The perfect movie scene, kissing the pretty girl shattered when he realized exactly how stupid his plan was. They stood, regarding each other for a few moments, their eyes lingering together. Suddenly, he swept his lips against her cheek, close to the corner of her mouth.

"Good luck, Syd." He looked down momentarily, feeling heat rush to his faith. He turned around. Stupid. So stupid. Incredibly stupid. He leaned against his arm, refusing to look at her. Emotionally attached didn't begin to describe it.
sydney a. bristowundercover_syd on March 27th, 2007 04:49 pm (UTC)
She totally agreed, no questions asked. Anything with Arvin Sloane 'was' dangerous. You always had to be on your guard.

Be careful.

Giving a quick smile, she nodded.

"I will. I promise.</i>

Their eyes held each other's gaze for more than a few seconds until she felt the unmistakable feeling of his lips across her cheek. God. It felt amazing, even if it wasn't on her lips. It only made her blush even more. She could have easily been mistaken as a tomato.

Good luck, Syd.

Looking at him, she stood there, contemplating what she was going to say back to him in order to lighten the mood that was suddenly more tense than before.

Suddenly, she also moved towards him, but this time, her lips touched somewhere else. This time, she was more daring than he had been. In one swift motion, her lips came across his ever so softly, not really caring what his reaction would be, but hoping it would be a good one.

Feeling himself turned around, Vaughn found himself staring into her eyes. Then, before he could protest, react, or even comprehend what was happening, her lips brushed his. His lips automatically responded. he pressed his against hers, his hand moving to the back of her head.

Suddenly, and image of Barnett and Haldaki flashed through his head. This was NOT appropriate. His eyes flew open suddenly has he removed his hand and firmly pushed her away.

"Agent Bristow, you have dinner with Arvin Sloane and your father," Vaughn stressed the names, his voice frigid. What he wouldn't give to have Sydney's lips on his again..."And you are going to be late." His words were forced, the wrinkles on his forehead deeper than ever, as he tried to ice Sydney out.

God, it was his fault. He should have never called her here. He could have given her a message through Jack. Hell, he shouldn't have kissed her cheek. Now, there was no way either of them could say this was purely platonic. Syd didn't kiss Dixon or Marshall on the lips. Well, at least he hoped not. It was undeniable, he had it bad for Sydney, and she wasn't making it any easier. These stolen moments were tantalizing, but right now, this relationship- it couldn't work. There were regulations against inter-agency relationships, especially when one happened to be a fucking double agent! Vaughn wanted to shout in frustration, his thoughts whirling, his lips tingling from her touch, but he kept them pressed in a tight line and avoided her undoubtedly hurt gaze.

"All the best, Agent Bristow." His voice was deep, strained, and very unprofessional considering his intention to come off more like her father.
sydney a. bristow: almukkaundercover_syd on March 27th, 2007 06:04 pm (UTC)
Alright, him reacting the way he did at first was understandable, but now he had to go and address her as Agent Bristow?

What the fuck.

Nodding, obviously pissed, she looked at him one last time before turning and walking off.

All the best, Agent Bristow.

She heard his words behind her, but she didn't turn around or acknowledge that they were even said.

He was beginning to act like her father more and more each time they met like this, and she didn't like it at all. One Jack Bristow was enough in her life.

((where do you wanna go now? lol))
